Editor: Re: “Celebrating Family Literacy,” Special Feature, Jan. 22. It was intriguing to read just what Family Literacy entails and the opportunities for all to engage in varied experiences in our Sunshine Coast communities.

Editor: Re: “Gibsons councillors sympathetic to appeal for cat bylaw” (Jan. 29), and “Cats and other threats to birds,” Good Birding (Jan. 22).

Editor: Back in the seventies, the late philosopher and theologian Ivan Illich wrote a book entitled Tools of Conviviality.

Editor: The walk along the promenade at Davis Bay is undoubtedly one of the jewels of the Sunshine Coast.

Editor: Everyone is concerned about rising taxes and I count myself as one of those people. Recent talk of a new operations building at a cost of $3.8 million gets everyone’s attention.

Reading this week’s paper, especially the Kisses and Kicks, one gets the impression the Sunshine Coast has turned into a litter box. A record number of Kicks take aim at this endemic trend.

One of the more curious developments from the COVID-19 pandemic is the impact it has had on the use of certain words.

Editor: Re: “Ring your bells, cyclists,” Letters, Jan. 15. I agree completely with Yvonne Mounsey’s call for cyclists to use bells to alert walkers.
