Editor: The following letter was addressed to Kathleen Suddes, chair of Sunshine Coast Community Forest and shared with Coast Reporter.

'As a youth and girl, the threat of a workcamp in Howe Sound is a scary and frustrating idea.'

'As the Area D Director from 2005-2014, I am very familiar with the beach access system, the reasons for its development, and some of the concerns some waterfront property owners expressed when the SCRD first began to acquire the leases from MOTI. To my knowledge the concerns about excessive noise, public disturbance, safety, etc. have for the most part not materialized and the beach accesses have become a cherished part of the community.'

For the first time, B.C. NDP political opponents have had an issue land in their laps that has the government in serious retreat, columnist Keith Baldrey believes.

The important thing to remember is that we are Canadians and live in Canada. The United States of America is a different country. I can’t stress this enough.

Editor: Considering the impending large tax increases on the Sunshine Coast, I feel very strongly that all three local governments have not set a goal to be more fiscally responsible with taxpayer’s dollars.

A judicious, rigorous, independent look at this would go a lot further in convincing people that the rubble from Robinson’s bombshell letter isn’t just being smoothed over.
