Letters: Two brothers and the COVID-19 vaccine

'My dear, younger, and unfortunately, un-vaccinated brother Peter, who I spent much time with when we were younger and I loved very much, sadly contracted COVID, and after suffering a very gruelling and painful month on a ventilator, got multiple organ failures, and then died from the onslaught by trillions of uncaring COVID microbes.'

Mr. P. J. Reece is certainly correct in his letter “Picture This,” Coast Reporter, June 17, 2022, and I sincerely commend him for his clever use of the vernacular and his captivating Shakespearean description of the events surrounding vaccines and masks while he was in a restaurant. His undoubtedly very well-researched and unbiased opinion, given gratis to us readers about what he witnessed, ending with the phrase, “What’s wrong with this picture?” precisely points out that even people that have been fully vaccinated can still contract COVID. I know that he is absolutely right because I am guilty of being one of those that he describes, for despite being doubly vaccinated and boosted, I caught COVID on my 80th birthday about two months ago.

Consequently, I suffered about three weeks of uncomfortable symptoms, including coughing and lethargy, but thankfully I am now fully recovered, and, as they say, life goes on, even at 80. But the accepted rules of balanced reporting dictate that other scenarios other than Mr. Reece’s, (and mine), should also be considered.

My dear, younger, and unfortunately, un-vaccinated brother Peter, who I spent much time with when we were younger and I loved very much, sadly contracted COVID, and after suffering a very gruelling and painful month on a ventilator, got multiple organ failures, and then died from the onslaught by trillions of uncaring COVID microbes. His body was then buried in the Earth with all those uninvited guests. If you are curious about Peter, you can view his obit by Googling “Peter Storr obituary.”

So, I now humbly ask the very knowledgeable Mr. Reece, the same question that he posed to us at the end of his letter, “What’s wrong with this picture?”
