Editor: Now that I am moving on in life I am realizing how important our environment is.

Editor: As a strong proponent of the Sechelt Aquatic Centre for decades, it is very distressing to hear of the pending demise of the climbing wall at the pool. I have heard that it may be a distraction for swimmers in the closest lane.

The following letter was sent to Norman Kempe, planning forester; Tom Jensen, assistant deputy minister, Forests Lands and Natural Resources; and Don Hudson, timber sales manager, and copied to Coast Reporter.

Editor: This year, Occupy will be a presence at our local Canada Day parade. The Occupy movement is made up of individuals with diverse backgrounds and political beliefs. Each Occupier has his or her own reasons for demonstrating.

The end of the school year is at hand, and with it come the celebrations for many students here on the Sunshine Coast. Grad week concluded Thursday as students from the Alternative School celebrated their program success and highlights.

Editor: I read with interest the June 15 letter by my friend Tony Greenfield, and I'm quite prepared to accept his comments about the wealth of biodiversity to be found in logged landscapes.

Editor: Re: Tony Greenfield's letter (Coast Reporter, June 15). Yes, we do see more pine siskins in clear-cuts and we may hear more song sparrows. To an avid birder, this may seem a wonderful benefit of forest renewal.

Editor: Colleen Elson posed some questions to school trustees (Coast Reporter, June 22). Here are the answers: Any talk of the "potential loss of a successful program due to monetary restraints and school board choices" is inaccurate.
