Sometimes, in the present economic climate, business people can lose hope. The prophets of doom and gloom become the voices the Sunshine Coast listen to.

Editor: I was greatly encouraged - no, thrilled would be more accurate - by the recommendations given at the recent meeting at Seaside Centre pertaining to Sechelt's foreshore.

Editor: I am thrilled about the prospect of The George Hotel in Gibsons. One can only imagine how lively the waterfront could become and how vibrant Gibsons Landing would be with more happy tourists, especially all year round.

Editor: What's wrong with our ferry service? It no longer gives service to the parties it was intended to. It is a luxury cruise catering to the holiday visitor with large dining areas, great shopping - clothes, books, jewelry.

The following letter was sent to Gibsons mayor and council and copied to Coast Reporter. I do not support the Gospel Rock neighbourhood plan in its present form. Please make this letter part of the official public process and the public record.

Editor: On June 1, a new program was launched on the Sunshine Coast by Vancouver Coastal Health: the Happy Heart Plus program.

Editor: Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote: "There is nothing more deceptive than an obvious fact." So it is with war propaganda.

Editor: Way to go, Cathie Roy, for your editorial Oct. 5 ("Thinking outside the boat"). I have muttered for years that the Coast needs a bridge, not a highway.

I was inspired to be less of a whiner this week when I talked to my 92-year-old grandmother back in Edmonton. I call her Baba, which is grandma in Ukrainian.
