Editor: The Sunshine Coast is blessed with hundreds of people who give their time, expertise and money to make our coastal home a better place to live. Most of the time, volunteers work together on projects.

Editor: In my six decades of Gibsons experience I have witnessed many changes but never seen such bitter splitting of the community as the proposed hotel.

Editor: It was very interesting to see the earnings of Town of Gibsons staff included in your last issue. Going back over my tax records from 1996 to 2014, I’ve found they have been on a steady increase.

Editor: BC Ferries’ reduced Sunday service between Langdale and Horseshoe Bay is catastrophic. On Sunday, June 8, we arrived at Langdale an hour early for the 11:30 sailing. We missed the ferry, as did three lines of waiting vehicles.

Editor: This past week I was walking along a trail close to the power lines in Pender Harbour when I came across a Notice of Herbicide Use sign put up by BC Hydro on June 4.

Editor: Where my understanding of Canadian political procedure, both federal and provincial, is still in its learning curve (I was raised in a different country), my understanding of debating is pretty clear.

Editor: A big round of applause for Nicholas Simons, for standing up to the liars, corrupt liars, in our government.

Editor: After reading “Simons, muzzled, lashes out at Liberals” (Coast Reporter, June 6), I couldn’t help but think of my own dealings with our MLA. A few years back he had a different outburst — but this one was directed at me.

Editor: Hats off for the D-Day celebrations and for those who organized them. But it is the many “end of the beginning” or “beginning of the end” comments that trouble me.
