Great sunny weather prevailed for the opening day of the Sunshine Coast Women’s Soccer League (SCWSL) on Sunday, Sept. 23. There are six teams made up of players from Gibsons to Pender Harbour, ranging in age from 19 to 60+.

Skater of the Month for September is adult skater Shannon Maclean. Shannon has been working hard to put together two new programs to compete in the International Adult Competition. The event will be held in Vancouver Oct.

Local baker Jenna Nestman isn’t slinging coffees at her Sechelt business this week. Instead, she’ll be putting pedal to the metal at the Canadian Track Championships for Elite and Masters athletes in Milton, Ont. The competition kicks off Sept.

Youth Soccer

Sunshine Coast made up the team for Zone 4 – Lower Mainland (Burnaby, Delta, Ladner, New Westminster, North and West Vancouver, Pemberton, Richmond, Squamish, Sunshine Coast, Tsawwassen, Vancouver and Whistler).

The 2018-19 soccer season has begun in fine form for our incredible U14 Storm boys team with two brilliant wins. The Storm boys are now playing at a higher lever of soccer against the best city gold-level teams and are fitting in quite nicely.

Kordell Johnson, a 15-year-old shíshálh soccer player, got to experience excitement both on and off the field during a trip to Hawaii last month to play with the North American Indigenous Football Association’s (NIFA) U16 Team Canada.

The Sunshine Coast Men’s Hockey League kicked off the 2018/19 season on Saturday night, Sept. 8, as the Gibsons Marks Cutters faced off against the Kings in a preseason match at the Gibsons and Area Community Centre.
