The first 2005 youth rep soccer games finally took place last weekend. The U14 girls' Scorpions continued their fine season with a strong game against the North Shore Wave.

It's been a busy two weekends at the Gibsons Curling Club. Last weekend, the club played host to its annual mixed bonspiel, while the weekend prior, the juvenile curlers took centre stage.

"Offensively challenged" could best describe the tilt between the Elphinstone Cougars and Chatelech Eagles on Monday in Gibsons.

Since 1979, the Chinook Swim Club has served as the outlet for young swimmers on the Coast. The club has had a nice run of success, and so far this year the club has achieved some great results in the pool.

It was a happy ferry ride back to the Coast on Monday night as both the Chatelech and Elphinstone senior girls' basketball teams won games in North Vancouver.

All good things must come to an end. The Midget House squad suffered its first loss of the season on Saturday as they dropped a 2-0 decision to North Vancouver at the Sunshine Coast Arena.

Dominating. That one word best describes the Chat senior boys basketball team as they ran roughshod over the competition last weekend in Sechelt.

The Elphinstone Cougars senior girls won a basketball game on Monday night and a few bragging rights in the process. Elphi beat the Chatelech Eagles 49-41 in Sechelt in a defensive but entertaining contest.

Bryan Bowles is hoping for some "big air" in Colorado next month. The 13-year-old Halfmoon Bay snowboarder is one of four young extreme athletes who will represent the province at the Sports Illustrated Snow Search finals in Keystone, Colo.

The Suncoast Flyers played giant killer last Saturday and in the process moved temporarily into third place in the men's A-division hockey league.
