Boys rep teams take centre stage

The boys youth rep soccer teams were all in league action on Sept. 18. The gold division U12 Storm gave Richmond United a good game but dropped the tilt 2-1. Jona Lussier went into the record book as he tallied Storm's first goal ever.

Gibsons Pigs drop season opener

The Gibsons Pigs Men's Rugby team dropped its season opener last Saturday by two points at Elphinstone Secondary School. The Kats from West Vancouver upended the Pigs 12-10 in a closely played match.

Men and women return to the pitch

Sept. 12 saw a sunny return to action for the men's and women's soccer leagues. In men's action, last year's tournament champs, Wolves, met league champs Pigs at Shirley Macy but failed to establish primacy as they played to a 4-4 draw.

Physical therapist takes on ultimate challenge

Skate club looks for big year

The Sunshine Coast Skating Club begins its new season on Tuesday at the Sunshine Coast Arena. Registration for the new season will be held at the arena Sept 7 to 9 from 5 to 6 p.m.

Youth make the grade at summer school

Young hockey stars got a jump on the competition last week at the Sunshine Coast Arena. The inaugural Sunshine Coast Hockey School was a huge success according to organizers who are already setting their sights on next year.

Inaugural camp a success

The Sunshine Coast Arena was full of speed demons last weekend. The Pacific Blades kicked off its inaugural speed skating season on the Sunshine Coast with a summer skills camp. In all, 38 skaters from age six to 56 took part in the two-day camp.

Locals take on Canada

The best mountain bike riders in Canada, including four local racers from On The Edge Race Club, were in Kamloops last weekend for the Canada Cup finals.
