Sechelt's Jessica Cyr has finally cut her teeth in the competitive CASCAR racing series. Cyr raced last weekend at the Clarington 200 at Mosport International Raceway in Bowmanville, Ont.

The Construction Aggregates sponsored bantam Rapids picked up a doubleheader win in Powell River last weekend. The first game was an exciting match with fast action and aggressive defence.

The inaugural Bragging Rights Cup was held last Sunday at the Sunshine Coast Golf and Country Club (SCGCC). The event was a Stableford competition between all the ingredient sections of the club: ladies', senior men's, men's and juniors.

The Suncoast Racquet Club hosted a round robin at Dougall Park last Saturday with background music from the Gibsons Landing Jazz Festival. The warm sunshine and festive atmosphere helped make the tennis tourney an enjoyable event.

The Sunshine Coast Rapids continue to make a name for themselves in Lower Mainland lacrosse. All of the association's teams are having tremendous seasons and continue to put in strong efforts both home and away.

The 20 fastest young mountain bikers in B.C. met for a training camp in Cumberland last weekend and five of them were from On The Edge Race Club's (OTE) youth development team.

It was certainly no pleasure cruise. Local writer and magazine editor Peter Robson has just returned from quite the adventure. Robson was aboard the 68 ft. Victoria Canada during a leg of the 2005/06 Clipper Round the World Yacht Race.

Elphi athletes may have fallen a bit short of the podium but still came home with great results from last weekend's provincial high school track and field finals. The two-day event was held June 2 and 3 at Burnaby's Swangaard Stadium.

The Gibsons Yacht Club is once again inviting youth out on the water for a summer of fun. The club is organizing its ever-popular, learn-to-sail program.

The competitive high school mountain bike series came to a close on the hills and trails in Whistler last weekend. More than 300 athletes from around the province competed at the 2006 provincial high school finals.
