Midget all-stars shine at Big League Experience camp

Immediately following their provincial championship tournament in Maple Ridge (Aug. 10 to 13), seven of Gibsons finest midget AA all-star baseball players ventured into the hot Okanagan sun for more baseball.

Mariners win second in a row

The most successful season in recent fastball history wrapped up last Friday night with the Lighthouse Mariners retaining the league championship with a hard-fought two to one series win over the Blackfish Pub.

New season underway

Hey, it must be September.Everyone is gearing up for a new football (soccer) season. More than 1,200 Coast kids are included. The local rep teams kicked off the season with strong results at a number of tournaments last weekend in the Lower Mainland.

Beating the heat at the rink

The third annual Sunshine Coast summer hockey school was another success. The main camp wrapped up today (Friday) at the Sunshine Coast Arena. Close to 60 kids took part in the camp with the Tyke/Novice group featuring the most players with 24.

Skill development enhanced at summer camp

Another successful week of spikes, sets and volleys took place at Chatelech Secondary School this week. Close to 70 players from grades 7 to 12 took part in the annual summer volleyball camp.

House League players from the Sunshine Coast Youth Soccer Association (SCYSA) got some top-notch instruction from one of the best coaches in the province this week.

Peewees in tough at provincials

The Gibsons all-star peewee squad capped off a great season with a trip to the provincial finals in Campbell River Aug. 3 to 7. Gibsons was in tough against the other competition, but still put in a strong showing representing the Coast with pride.

Women's team wins Shuswap tourney

Sixteen women comprised from the Sunshine Coast Women's Soccer League (CALs Crushers, CP Blazers, Mayhem and Gibsons Pigs) went to 27th annual Salmon Arm/Shuswap soccer tournament over the August long weekend.
