The Chatelech ski and snowboard team is burning up the slopes in the hopes of a second straight provincial championship berth.

Chat junior boys win ninth straight

No one seems able to stop the Chatelech Eagles these days. The junior boys won their ninth straight game Monday night using a huge 43-point second half to blow out Seycove 70-31.

New courts open to everyone

In an effort to promote the game and their new indoor tennis facility in Sechelt, the Suncoast Racquet Club is hosting an open house this Sunday. The open house, slated for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Youth teams heat it up indoors

The snowy cold weather didn't seem to matter last Friday as the soccer action heated up indoors. The five teams at the girls' U15 youth soccer league met on Friday, Jan. 2, to compete for the annual Old Boot indoor tournament.

Helmet policy takes effect

BC Hockey's helmet policy took effect Dec. 1. The policy requires all minor hockey coaches to wear a CSA (Canadian Standards Association) approved helmet during BC Hockey on-ice sanctioned events.

Marathon men conquer the original

Last November, after completing the New York Marathon, Rick Cooney confidently declared that he would run 12 marathons in 2008. Included in that epic feat would be the "original" marathon in Athens, Greece.
