Sechelt Nation celebrates its heritage

The Sechelt First Nation celebrated national Aboriginal Day by returning to visit traditional territory in Princess Louisa Inlet this week.

Heritage Centre opens Saturday

The Skookumchuck Heritage Society will hold a grand opening ceremony on Saturday, June 17, for the new Egmont Heritage Centre. The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. The centre is located at 6671 Egmont Road.

Youth vandals apologize for damage to transit bus

A group of five students from Gibsons are apologizing this week after throwing eggs, vegetables and fruit at a transit bus driving in Langdale March 28.

No decision yet on skatepark location

The Town of Gibsons is still struggling to find a location for its new skatepark. A new location was debated by the planning committee on Tuesday. The site under consideration now is in the southwest corner of Brothers Park.

Council endorses alternative heating system for community centre

Gibsons council has endorsed a proposal to incorporate an integrated geothermal system into the Gibsons and Area Community Centre. The proposed heating system was a topic of debate at a special meeting of council June 9.

Family offering reward for information

The family of Rhody Lake is hoping a reward offer will lead to information about the missing woman. The 80-year-old Sechelt woman went missing during an afternoon walk from her home in Sandy Hook on Nov. 27, 2005.
