One COVID case reported for second week of August

There was one new case of COVID-19 reported on the lower Sunshine Coast during the second week of August. The previous week, between Aug. 1 and 7, there had been four new cases reported . Between Aug. 8 and 14, Powell River reported two new cases.

There was one new case of COVID-19 reported on the lower Sunshine Coast during the second week of August. The previous week, between Aug. 1 and 7, there had been four new cases reported

Between Aug. 8 and 14, Powell River reported two new cases. In the Howe Sound area, 22 new cases were reported. 

The weekly map also shows there are 15 cases in the Vancouver Coastal Health region with missing address information.
 
As of Aug. 16, the vaccination rate for those 12 and older was 82 per cent for the first dose and 73 per cent for the second.

For those 18 and older, 83 per cent received the first dose and 75 received their second.

Between the ages of 18 and 49, 72 per cent of residents received their first dose, and 58 per cent (the lowest local rate of those eligible for vaccinations) had their second jab.

The age range with the highest vaccination coverage is the 50+ category, with 88 per cent for the first dose, and 84 per cent for the second.
