High crash location signs could be a low-cost way to get drivers' attention and reduce accidents, Sunshine Coast RCMP Const. Hwisong (Steve) Kahng told the Sunshine Coast Regional District's transportation advisory committee on Jan. 7.

The District of Sechelt wants more information about a disturbing dog attack that left Dana Urbanski's five-year-old Pomeranian Pepper with broken ribs and deep puncture wounds. On the way to the vet, the small dog died of its extensive injuries.

Businesses that sell or lease taxable goods, or sell software or taxable services in B.C., are now able to register to collect the tax. Registration for the provincial sales tax opened Jan. 2. The PST will be re-implemented April 1.

Sechelt residents can apply to have a free street tree installed in front of their property through the Adopt a Street Tree program. In 2012, Sechelt planted more than 80 trees under this partnership program.

Sunshine Coast RCMP focused on road safety during the month of December, taking 18 impaired drivers off the roadways. This was up from last year's totals of 17 impaired drivers.
