The West Vancouver-Sunshine Coast-Sea to Sky Country Liberal electoral district association will be hosting a town hall meeting this Saturday, March 23 to discuss Canada's oil and proposed pipelines.
The meeting will discuss Canada's oil industry as well as the proposed Northern Gateway and Trans Mountain pipelines through B.C. The meeting starts at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Seaside Centre in Sechelt.
Fishing regs synopsis now available
The 2013 to 2015 freshwater fishing regulations synopsis is now on-line, and will soon be available in hard copy at Service BC centres and local angling licence vendors throughout the province.
The synopsis is published every two years, and contains all non-salmon sport fishing regulations in effect in freshwater in B.C. The synopsis is the go-to sourcebook for anglers in the province.

Treaty passes provincial step
Provincial legislators have ratified Tla'amin (Sliammon) First Nation's, final treaty agreement. It becomes the ninth first nation in B.C. to have its treaty passed in the last 13 years. The province has already ratified final agreements with Nisga'a, Tsawwassen, five Maa-nulth first nations and, most recently, Yale First Nation.
Tla'amin's treaty must now be ratified by the federal government, expected to happen in the fall, before it becomes law.
The deal gives Tla'amin $29.7 million, economic development funding of $6.9 million, a fishing vessel fund of $250,000 and more than 8,000 hectares of land in their territory in the Powell River area.
