Musicians and audiences had a blast at the 24th annual musical weekend gathering in Lower Gibsons. Saturday afternoon opened with Coast singer Katherine Penfold and her new band, with Vince Mai on trumpet and Jon Bentley on sax.

Sechelt’s annual Canada Day Parade starts at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 1 along Cowrie Street. That’s just the beginning of a day of downtown activities, with two music stages, beer gardens and food vendors.

A walk through the main room of the Gibsons Public Art Gallery (GPAG) this month is a trip back in time, thanks to a unique collection of archival photographs of members of Inuit, Métis and northern Canadian First Nations.

Students at the Coast Academy of Dance and Performing Arts strutted their stuff in four performances of the year-end show Greatest Hits, at Raven’s Cry Theatre June 8 and 9.

The Waldorf Ballet in Sechelt staged its school year-end production of A Bird’s Tale at Raven’s Cry Theatre June 11, 12 and 13, with a cast of 85.
