As summer draws to a close on the Sunshine Coast, there is a ramping up at the kálax-ay Sunshine Coast Campus. Faculty and staff are preparing to welcome new and returning students for the 2019-20 academic year.

Sunshine Coast ElderCollege invites the community age 55 plus to attend a free preview of its fall 2019 courses on Thursday, Aug. 15, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at Capilano University’s Sechelt Campus.

Roberts Creek is about to launch into its 41st Creek Daze, the zany festival of everything Creek, on Saturday, Aug. 10 from noon to 5 p.m.

Friday Madeira Market is on! Come shop for treats and treasures under the shady trees and enjoy some delicious food at Tony’s Triple B’s. The markets are a Pender Harbour Community Club event and new vendors are welcome. Saturday, Aug.

Wanted: a coordinator for this year’s Applefest. Halfmoon Bay Community Association (HBCA) is seeking someone who would like experience in putting together a special event.

A small group gathered at the Roberts Creek Post Office on Sunday, July 28 to dedicate a bench in remembrance of Bruce Fletcher. Fletcher was born in 1951 in Zimbabwe and came to Canada in the early 1970s.
