The talented Kenneth Norman Johnson conducts the Pender Harbour Choir in We Are One, “a celebration of all life on earth,” this Friday, May 31 at 7 p.m. at the Botanical Gardens and Sunday, June 2, 2 p.m. at the School of Music.

Wow! Shari Ulrich’s concert with Cindy Fairbank and Julia Graff was an incredible show. Standing ovations was the theme of the evening.

The Ladies Red Serge Gala committee is looking for one or two people to volunteer to chair or co-chair this year’s event scheduled for Sept. 12 in Sechelt.

This spring members of the Sechelt Garden Club’s development committee, led by Penny Lyle, were busy beautifying Sechelt as they planted flowers to add to the boxwood along the first section of Cowrie Lane beside the Healthcare Auxiliary Thrift Shop.

Far east from the chill waters on the Skeleton Coast of Namibia where I swam a month ago is the island of Zanzibar and a very different sea – the Indian Ocean. It looks as warm as it is turquoise green.

Gibsons United Church raised $800 through bake sales to support local food banks. Funds raised by Gibsons United were split evenly between The Salvation Army Food Bank and St. Bart’s Food Bank.

It was a gala evening for princesses and kings at the annual Dad and Me Dance on Tuesday, May 14.

In late May and June we are in the season of peak bird song. Birds sing for two main reasons: to attract a mate and to announce and defend a breeding territory.

At the May 8 Elphinstone Community Association (ECA) meeting, people heard about the ECA’s grant request for aid in removing the totes from the beach clean-up; we’re due to hear soon whether our bid was successful.
