Pender Harbour-Egmont Highlights: Sarah Wray Hall gets a new roof

And, centenarian Marjory Mackay chats at Women’s Connection

Sarah Wray Hall has a new roof thanks to our kind, caring and generous community that donated the funds needed for this very important update. 

The Women’s Connection is delighted to present “Chatting with Marjory” Oct. 10 at the School of Music. Margaret Skelley will sit down with Pender’s centenarian, Marjory Mackay, for an intimate chat about the almost 80 years she has spent living in Pender Harbour after arriving by the steamship Lady Cecilia in August 1946. Coast Cable will be taping this event for their community programming. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. Drop in $4. 

Harbourside Friendship, Thursday, Oct. 12 is all about fun and games when they host their version of Family Feud 10:30 a.m. at the Hall. Stay for lunch at noon, $10 per person. 

And the beat goes on! Mark your calendars. October has so many fantastic musical events. 

Coffee House at the School of Music Friday, Oct. 13 welcomes the Brothers in Farms, duo of local favourites Jean Curry and Sandy Matches and the well-known drummer who does it all, Tim Rannard. Doors open at 7 p.m. Music at 7:30 p.m. $10 suggested donation at the door. Tea, coffee, and sweets available. 

Painted Boat will host an evening of fine dining and fine music with Joe Stanton on Friday, Oct. 20 at their Lagoon Restaurant. Book your table now. 

Ladies Night at The Legion Saturday, Oct. 21 will have the funny, charming, and very musical Brit Eddy Edrick along with a $1,000 Calcutta, jewellery auction and dinner. Tickets $65 at the Legion. 

The next in the Pender Harbour Music Society’s Concert series is Sunday, Oct. 22 when Krystle Dos Santos, a two-time Western Canadian Music Award winning soul, jazz and R&B singer graces the stage at the School of Music. With an extraordinary voice that is commanding, powerful and rich with talent, her music, inspired by classic and neo-soul combined with smooth R&B. Tickets available at the PHMS webpage. 

The Pender Harbour Blues Society 13th Annual Halloween Howl is Saturday, Oct. 28 with Joe Rotundo, and the Interstellar Riders.
