Tickets are now available for the 18th Annual Pender Harbour Blues Society Festival, June 2,3 and 4. Do not hesitate to book your tickets for these stellar shows. Folks come from everywhere to attend our fantastic events. The Brickhouse dance last Saturday, a fundraiser for the festival, was an outrageous success, well-publicized, and a quick sellout. There was a lot of grumbling from folks without tickets. Gentle reminder, “He who hesitates is lost.” Waiting until the day before, “last minute” is a thing of the past. Please visit the PHBS website to purchase tickets for the festival performances, and view the schedule and info on the line-up. www.phblues.ca. Please contact Marilyn MacLeod, the ace organizer at [email protected] if you need assistance or have any questions.

Wish I was younger, lol, I would have jumped at this awesome, summer job opportunity. Maybe you know someone? Our visitor information centre in Madeira Park is hiring! They are looking for a “young” person aged 15 to 30 to work five days a week, 7.5 hours a day from May 18 to Sept. 4 for $17.25 an hour. No experience necessary and no sales. They will train and offer a free SuperHost course. Wow! To apply call 604-883-2561 or email [email protected]

Volunteer Week starts this Sunday, April 16 through 22. Please, say thanks to those you know who volunteer. Volunteers are the heartbeat of our community. Our quality of life, enhanced with activities and events, kindness, generosity and helping hands, so many things we enjoy are made possible by the devoted, hardworking core of volunteers. Take a moment and think of those enjoyments you experience each day, each week, annually because of our volunteers. Now, think again of how empty our lives would be without them. Come celebrate our incredibly special people, our volunteers at an appreciation afternoon tea Wednesday, April 19 at the Hall 2 to 4 p.m. If you are not a volunteer, step up, join the ranks and add to your enjoyment of life in our paradise. Thank you, dear, wonderful volunteers! Namaste.
