The first Coffee House of the year at the School of Music, Jan. 13 has a fantastic lineup of stellar coastal performers. On stage for an evening of fine music, the incomparable Joe Stanton, Garth Oliver Bowen and Jon Ochsendorf. Doors open at 7 p.m. Music at 7:30 p.m. No advanced ticket sales. Suggested $10 donation at the door. Masks recommended. Presented by the Pender Harbour Music Society.

Days before Christmas, the Sunshine Coast Credit  Union in Madiera Park and the Grasshopper Pub suffered damage when vandals attempted to remove their ATMs. As I prepare this column, the repairs are incomplete and the Grasshopper announced Dec. 22 that it will be closed for the season. Hotel and liquor store will remain open. Tough Christmas for the staff. The new year brought them ROEs. There has been a lot of chat on social media but no updates from the owners.

Do you remember those fantastic times at Garden Bay Pub and Restaurant when Ron Johnson and Marita Jokela were the owner operators? Hope I prompted fond memories.
