It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of the beloved husband and uncle Robert (Bob) Johnston. He passed away very suddenly on December 9, 2022 at Christenson Village. Bob was in his 91st year.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Janet Johnston, and his parents, James and Polly Johnston. Bob is survived by his wife Rosemary Fay, her daughter Nicola Windsor, two great-granddaughters, Leah (Braeden) and Natasha (The), four great-great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Simon, William and Ronan, two nephews, Richard Bellamy and Terry Johnston (Carole), two nieces, Beth Mainprize and Trudy Ruck (Dane), five great-nephews, Lenny Johnston, Lyle Johnston, Graham Ruck (Brenda), Jason Ruck, and Jeremy (Kyla), four great-great nieces, Julianna, Everly and Gracie, and Yuli Ruck, and one great-great nephew Christopher.

Bob was born in Birch Hills, Saskatchewan in 1932. He was a teacher in Saskatoon for 31 years. He moved to the Sunshine Coast in 1994 to be closer to BC family.

He enjoyed golfing at the Roberts Creek Golf Course and curling at the Gibsons Curling Rink. He also loved to travel and had many trips over the years to Britain, Ecuador and Germany.

After Janet passed away, he met a lovely lady, Rosemary Fay. They got married and had some travels to the Panama Canal and Russia.

Bob loved his church, St. Bart’s Anglican Church, where he actively took part doing the bulletins, lay reader and other duties.

Bob was an active supporter of the local Sechelt Hospital, and also the Sunshine Coast Foundation.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to St. Bart’s Anglican Church, Gibsons.

The family wishes to thank all the Totem care aides and nurses who took such great care of him during these past four years. Also, thank you to Christenson Village nurses and care aides who showed such caring when he passed away.

A memorial service will be held on January 14, 2023 at St. Bart’s Anglican Church in Gibsons at 2pm, followed by a reception in the hall.
