Braulia died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 89. She is deeply missed by her husband of 65 years, Leslie Pitcher, her daughter Carroll Tessier (David), her son George Pitcher (Jennifer), and her grandchildren Morgan Peers (Sheleigh), Jordan Pitcher (Teresa), Rhianan (Cory), Shonora (Nick), Elizabeth, Kaelen (Edwina), and Autumn (Patrick), and by her great-grandchild Alastair Peers. She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Ocean, in 2021. Born in a small village in Belize to parents Ciriaco and Francisca Contreras, Braulia (nicknamed Wita) was the youngest of six children.

From an early age she adored music and dancing. She became the town seamstress, known for her intricate and incomparable wedding dresses. In 1957 she married Leslie, a young Christian missionary serving in Belize. The couple moved to Ontario, where their daughter Carroll was born in 1960. Their son George was born in Regina in 1964. After several more moves, including the Yukon and Newfoundland, the family relocated to BC, where they settled.

Braulia loved everyone and everyone loved her. Blessed with a sunny disposition, she never complained, no matter what life threw at her. Her smile was her trademark. She was everybody's sweetheart. Braulia became one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1956 and remained a faithful worshiper of her God and a beloved member of her congregation until her death. The family would like to extend grateful, heartfelt thanks to the staff at Shorncliffe for their exceptional care of our beloved Braulia. She will be missed as well by her enormous extended family and wide circle of friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
