Night Market opens June 19

Gibsons

The Society for the Preservation of Arts, Culture and Environment (SPACE) is launching a new night market that will take place every Thursday from June 19 to Aug. 28 in the parking lot adjacent to the shops at 626 Shaw Road in Gibsons.

This open-air event will run from 5 to 9 p.m. and will feature food, goods and products from local vendors and activities for children. Many evenings will also feature performances from local bands and a licensed area where visitors can enjoy a drink while shopping and listening to the music.

Event coordinator Leah Morgan said SPACE created the event in order to promote a more vibrant cultural community in Upper Gibsons and provide a supportive communal environment to enable networking for artistic, musical and other cultural endeavours.

“We have a great space here with wonderful products, amazing talent and fun activities for all ages, so we’re really hoping the community gets behind us,” Morgan said. “We hope the Night Market is just the beginning of many projects SPACE will be part of.”

Admission is free and everyone is welcome. SPACE will donate proceeds from the event back to the Sunshine Coast arts community.
