Valentine’s Day will soon be upon us. And while most celebrate romantic love, there is also love of friends, family, pets — even love of our library. The Sechelt Public Library is a safe place, a community place, a place where residents like to gather.
And the library loves us back. The money from the book fairs has allowed the library to provide patrons with comfortable chairs to sink into, a digital television monitor at the check-out counter to keep everyone informed and amused and a growing collection of European mystery DVDs.
And now library users no longer have to crawl on the floor to see the books on the bottom shelves. They just have to look down to read the titles on the sloping shelves, provided by the Friends of the Sechelt Library with book fair money.
And the love goes on. The Friends of the Sechelt Library are launching the 2015 season with a special Valentine’s eve book preview next Friday, Feb. 13 from 4 to 8 p.m.
The Seaside Centre was chosen as the venue to accommodate the entire collection of donated materials. For $20, patrons will receive three free books of their choice, munchies and a beverage and the opportunity to make some great buys at the huge preview sale. A cash wine bar is also available. You can get your tickets at the Sechelt Public Library.
On Saturday, Feb. 14, you can also celebrate Valentine’s Day at the first book fair of the season at the Seaside Centre.
