Pender Harbour & Egmont

The Pender Harbour Community Hall welcomes youth to events the last two Friday's of the month from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 10 p.m. with drop-in table tennis and foosball in between. Check for event posters at school and at the hall.

A free family music night is this Friday, March 27 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the School of Music. All ages are welcome to join in a casual night of singing.

This Saturday March 28 is the Legion’s annual Easter holiday meat draw extravaganza.

There will be 10 turkeys and 10 hams up for grabs and you can also bid on the sweetest auction for delicious homemade pies. The early bird draw is at 3 and the main draw gets underway at 4 p.m.

Put your best foot forward and take in the magnificent beauty of our Coast Mondays and Wednesdays with the Pender Harbour hiking club. Call 604-883-2930 to join them.

Ladies Night is at the Sechelt Rod and Gun Club every Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Fee is $25.

Also on Wednesdays, drop in for pickleball at the high school from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

On Thursdays why not come out and see what Harbourside Friendship is all about? They would love to meet you. They meet every Thursday at 10:30 a.m. Reconnect with friends, share a laugh or two, basically just come and try it out they’re positive you’ll enjoy yourself.  Come to the Community Hall on April 2 and help celebrate Easter with Madeira Park Elementary School grade 4 to 6 students. Bring a hat to decorate and wear in the Easter Parade. Lunch follows for a $10 fee. For more details call Cathy at 604-885-1365.

Drop-in soccer takes place Thursday nights at the high school from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.

An income tax preparation program has started for eligible people in Madeira Park, Garden Bay and beyond hosted by Christ the Redeemer Anglican Church. The free clinics are being held at the Community School on Wednesdays and Mondays at the church office. Call 604-865-0336 to make an appointment.

The Pender Harbour Community Club is holding a market and plant sale on Saturday, April 5 at the Community Hall. Anyone dividing plants please save the extra for the sale.

A reminder that the 14th annual April Tools Wooden Boat Challenge is April 25 starting at 10 a.m. at Millennium Park. Teams of up to four people build a boat from materials provided (and no one knows what they will be until the day of the race) and race around the harbour for cash prizes. Youth races, mini boat building for the kids as well. Entry fee is $160 ($140 if before April 1). Download the entry form at: www.apriltools.ca or call Jackie at 604-883-0539 for more details.
