Enormous heartfelt thanks to the residents of Egmont for immediately reporting the wildfire that broke out and to the heroic firefighters on the ground and in the air who responded and with great efficiency put out the fire across the channel from the Skoocumchuck Trail last week. This could have been catastrophic. Person caused?

This wildfire brought back unpleasant memories of the Cecil Hill Fire of 2019 that was above our home in Madeira Park. Terrifying time.

At first report of the Egmont fire, I hauled out our emergency kit and evacuation kit and updated both hoping they will not be used but taking small comfort in knowing they are ready. With five high needs rescue dogs there is a lot to include.

That same day of the Egmont wildfire Lytton caught fire again, another fire at Hell’s Gate. We also learned Pat John; the beloved “Jessie” of The Beachcombers had sailed away. RIP Jessie.

Stay safe everyone. The summer heat is upon us.
