A Halfmoon Bay Sunset.

It’s a huge weekend here in Halfmoon Bay, it’s time for the Tin Man and Country Fair!

On Saturday, July 12, we have the Halfmoon Bay Fire Department hosting our annual Tin Man Challenge and open house at Hall One (8972 Redrooffs Road) starting at noon. Feel free to come watch your local first responders take part in our annual fitness test as we race the course. Obstacles will include a dummy drag, hose handling, forcible entry and more. To add a correction from last week’s column, unfortunately we are unable to have public participation in the Tin Man course but welcome the public to come visit and spend time with your local first responders. If you are thinking of joining this is also a great opportunity to talk to Chief Raymond about recruitment and get a preview of some skills you will learn in training. We will have our grills going with hot dogs for purchase, it will be fun for the whole family and everyone’s invited.

The Halfmoon Bay Community Association is thrilled to host the 57th Annual Halfmoon Bay Country Fair this Sunday at Cooper’s Green Park & Hall from noon to 8 p.m. This beloved community event promises a full day of family-friendly entertainment, fantastic food, local shopping, live music and engaging theatre performances.

This year’s fair is packed with activities and entertainment sure to delight residents and visitors of all ages. Live music performances will feature local favorites Belt, Monty Montego, and Brothers in Farms, bringing vibrant energy and great tunes to the main stage all afternoon and into the evening.

Adding a theatrical flair, Story Theatre will enchant audiences with their dynamic and family-friendly live performances, creating magical moments and lasting memories.

Attendees can indulge in a diverse array of delicious food options, refreshing beer and wine selections, and delightful treats from various local vendors. Shop and explore the bustling marketplace showcasing talented artisans and businesses from across the Sunshine Coast, offering unique handcrafted items, gifts, and much more.

Families with children will appreciate the expansive KidsZone filled with exciting activities and games, while beach enthusiasts can participate in fun beachside activities. To make attending even more convenient, a free shuttle bus service will be provided, ensuring easy and stress-free transportation to and from the event.

You will find me, your local columnist, alongside my fellow members of the Halfmoon Bay Fire Department cooking up our famous burgers and hot dogs by the water, generously supported by Marino’s Your Independent Grocer this year. This weekend is the highlight of our year so please stop by and say hi to us and Chief Raymond.

The Halfmoon Bay Country Fair is free to attend, thanks to the generous support of community sponsors, including HiBaller Energy, University Sprinklers, Sunshine Coast Credit Union, Justin Wright CPA, Joel O’Reilly Real Estate, James + McIntyre CPAs, Coast Physiotherapy, Saxon Contracting, Buccaneer Marina, Mainstay Computing, Strait Land Surveying, and many more local businesses.

Join your community in celebrating summer, supporting local talent, and creating wonderful memories at the 57th Annual Halfmoon Bay Country Fair.
