Halfmoon Happenings

Halfmoon Bay

Residents of Halfmoon Bay should take a look at the Coopers Green Park Management Plan. Information regarding the draft-plan and a response form is available at www.scrd.ca/Coopers-Green until Oct. 13. The plan is to be completed by November.

On Saturday, Oct. 10 Coopers Green hosts copper kettle applesauce making. People are needed for shifts at 9-11 a.m., 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and 1-3 p.m. Bring your paring knives, peelers, cutting boards, large stainless crockpots, and any other peeler-corer, food mill gizmos you have around. Guitars, ukuleles and fiddles are welcome. We’ll have the fire going and the big kettle. Time to meet your neighbours, schnitz and gossip and get some good work done for a good cause.

Tickets are on sale at HMB General Store and Welcome Woods Market for the Applefest’s “Boogie nights” on Oct. 17. Tickets are only $15 each and include snacks, a beer, glass of wine or cider and entertainment by PLAYBACK, a four-piece classic rock band who specialize in 60s and 70s rock ’n’ roll that you can dance to.

Visit the website for more about the HBCoA-sponsored Apple Festival and other events the weekend of Oct. 17-18 at www.halfmoonbayapplefestival.com or www.hmbcommunity.org/.

HBCoA, making events available for our social and fitness well being, have arranged for Pickleball 7 p.m. Wednesdays at the Halfmoon Bay Community School gym, Northwood Road. Both players and spectators are invited. All skill levels welcome. Dress appropriately. All other equipment is provided.

Drop-in charge is $3 or $20 for eight nights.

This is a wonderful way to get in some exercise and meet the neighbours.

No experience is required.
