Halfmoon Bay Happenings

Halfmoon Bay

Scotch broom (Cytisus scoparius) is a deciduous shrub that can be found on the edges of wooded areas and in open fields. It is an aggressively invasive plant of South Western B.C. that will grow thickly rather quickly.

Our mild winter weather has the plants showing its blooms early this year so the Halfmoon Bay Broom Busters are revving up to attack the invasive on April 21, 22 and 23, meeting at 10 a.m. at Coopers Green on Redrooffs Road. Bring your loppers and sunscreen along. Bring your friends and neighbours. Contact Mary Beth Knechtel at 604-741-9846 or [email protected] for any more details.

The Welcome Beach Community Association has increased memberships to more than 285 members after their membership drive last Saturday at HMB Cafe.

The challenge is 300 by months end. If anyone still would like to join please contact Lori Davis at [email protected].
