Halfmoon Bay Happenings

Halfmoon Bay

Drop in and play pickleball — the fastest growing sport in North America.

Pickleball is Wednesday evenings at the Halfmoon Bay Elementary School gym. Plan to arrive by 7 p.m. for registration. Dress appropriately (runners and work out gear). All other equipment (racquets and balls) are provided. Cost is $3 per session.  There are three courts, one dedicated to beginners with instruction provided, the other two follow the ‘level play’ format set out by the Sunshine Coast Pickleball Association. For more information email Don at [email protected].

Halfmoon Bay Elementary School is hosting its annual carnival on Thursday, Feb. 26 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. This year’s theme is ‘Moonstock,’ their take on Woodstock. I am told it will be a “Gas.”  There will be lots of games, a cake-walk, and a silent auction. Everyone is welcome, so do drop in.

Anyone able to make a donation to the silent auction, service or items is asked to contact Katherine McKenna at 604-885-3909.

The Welcome Beach Community Association starts its 2015 Concert in the Park Series with a very special night on Saturday, Feb. 28 an evening featuring the reunion of Joe Stanton and the Precious Littles at Coopers Green Hall.

Doors open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20, available at the Welcome Woods Market and the Halfmoon Bay General Store. This event will sell out, so don't wait to purchase your tickets.

Plans for the Halfmoon Bay Country Fair are starting. A committee is now being formed. Anyone wanting to join in the fun of setting up is asked to contact me —Terry Knight, at [email protected]. The Fair date is set for July 12 to 13.

To have your say at the bay, contact me before 5 p.m. Monday at [email protected] or 604-885-5034.
