Halfmoon Bay Happenings

Halfmoon Bay

A big thank you to all who supported the pancake breakfast at the recent Country Fair hosted by the St. Mary's Hospital/Healthcare Auxiliary Halfmoon Bay branch. The auxiliary raised $1,425 to add to the St. Mary's Hospital Fund. They truly appreciated all the support.

The annual Halfmoon Bay open golf tournament sponsored by the Welcome Beach Community Association (WBCA) is Sept. 6 at 10 a.m. at the Pender Harbour Golf Club. The tournament is limited to the first 36 registrants. Your $60 registration includes nine holes of golf with a power cart, lunch, prizes and a lot of fun and camaraderie. There will be prizes for men’s and ladies long drive, closest to the pin etc. as well as numerous door prizes so that everyone, including those who don’t play much golf will have a great opportunity to win.

For more information contact: Mike Gojevic via email at [email protected].

If you have questions regarding the Halfmoon Bay official community plan, Halfmoon Bay regional district director Garry Nohr will make himself available Tuesdays at 9:15 a.m. at the Welcome Woods Market and at 10 a.m. on Fridays at the Halfmoon Bay Café.

A very interesting read regarding a fascinating and rare first-hand account of what life was like in the earliest years of Halfmoon Bay settlement. Gary Little tracked it down and you can read all about it at: www.garylittle.ca. The story has also been reproduced at the WBCA’s Facebook Page.

To have your say at the bay, contact me before 5 p.m. Monday at [email protected] or call 604-885-5034.
