Gibsons Lions install 2015-16 executive

Service Club

The new 2015-16 Gibsons Lions Club executive was installed this summer: president Bob Nordlund, vice-president Leona Quick, treasurer Judy Charboneau, director Fabienne Bonnici, director Martine Lauzier, membership director Elizabeth Nordlund, lion tamer Linda Patterson, tail twister Jim Barnes, recording secretary Tracy Lund and corresponding secretary Greg Collins.

The Club is very active in the Roberts Creek to Langdale area. Several service activities are planned for the next two months. They will be serving breakfast for the Cops for Cancer riders in September and the Search and Rescue training planned for October. Lions Club members will be helping the Food Bank canvas for food in the next two weeks and distributing hampers close to Thanksgiving.

Bingo at the Legion began Sept. 14 and runs until next June. The Lions will be at the Quality Farm Fall Fair with their concession trailers. If the fundraising efforts do well this year, the Gibsons Lions anticipate being able to give back to the Sunshine Coast community over $27,000. The Lions Club is one of the few charitable organizations in the world that returns 100 per cent of monies collected back to the community.
