Two of the Sunshine Coast Skating Club’s top competitive figure skaters will be competing at this year’s B.C. Winter Games in February.

Lucy Watson and Cooper Jones qualified for the prestigious event, following their successful routines exhibited in the B.C. Coast Region of the British Columbia Sectional Championships, held in Kelowna.

The skaters will now prepare for the games where they will represent Zone 5 on Feb. 21 to 23 in Fort St. John.

Lucy, 12, will be competing in the pre-juvenile women category and Cooper, 14, in the pre-novice men category.

The B.C. Winter Games feature events in a number of sports, including curling, skiing, the biathlon and ice skating, with an aim to develop athletes for higher levels of competition.
