The 2019 Provincial BC Winter Games, hosted by Greater Vernon, Feb. 21 to 23, saw over 600 athletes from all over the province and Yukon competing in five-pin bowling, alpine skiing, cross country skiing, figure skating, speed skating, snowshoeing, floor hockey and curling.

This year, Special Olympics Sunshine Coast was fortunate enough to send five of our own to this fantastic event. Darlene Nelson, Shelley McCuaig, Wes Harrison, Bruce Stuart and head coach Pat Stuart, dubbed the Sunshine Coast Polar Bears, curled hard, hard, hard!

They were even on Global News carrying the Region 5 Banner during the Opening Ceremonies!

Coach Stuart remarked that they all had a great time, made lots of new friends and learned a little about sweeping rocks.
