The 16th annual Attack of Danger Bay didn’t disappoint the sea of fans that came out and cheered on their favourite longboarders as they sped down Murdoch Road in Pender Harbour on May 21.

Carnage Corner lived up to its name with a few good crashes at the bend where announcer and event organizer Bricin Lyons kept the crowd pumped up with music and colour commentary.

The new Business Class also provided some fun for racers and fans alike with several longboarders choosing to don suits and ties and carry briefcases down the hill in an effort to win a briefcase full of medals, $500 and a new tuxedo.

At the end of the day, Kevin (K-Rimes)Reimer from Santa Barbara, Calif., won the Attack of Danger Bay race for the fifth year in a row and Adam Persson of Stockholm, Sweden took the second-place finish.

Pender Harbour Team Irene racer Dane (Danger) Hanna took third place on the podium – an impressive finish against racers who came from around the world to compete at Attack of Danger Bay 16. It was the local longboarder’s sixth time on the podium in Pender, proving once again he’s a force to be reckoned with.

K-Rimes said on Instagram after his first-place win that it was a “real pleasure” to race this year and he gave a shout out to the other two podium finishers who provided “a killer solid final.”

Danger thanked Coast Longboarding and Lyons for putting on the “rad event” as well as his sponsors, noting “I couldn’t do it without them.”
Most of the longboarders who came to compete in the main race also took part in slide competitions, a ball hockey tournament, a free ride and Jakes Rash Rumble, held on Stephens Way.

Results from those events were not available at press time.
