Editor: In 2008, when we hosted our first walk through the woods on The Art Farm, the community came.

Editor: A recent article in The Guardian, summing up the COP21 climate meeting in Paris, made a major point of the fact that on this occasion no effort was wasted responding to the outdated and misleading talking points of the denier industry.

Editor: I would like to respond to Gordon Politeski’s letter, “Science not settled,” on climate change (Coast Reporter, Dec. 11). The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) is the leading international body on the subject.

Editor: The statement that the scientific consensus of alarmist man-made global warming is over, and 97 per cent of scientists agree that humans are responsible, was debunked in 2008. Consensus is never science, Newton proved that.

Editor: Fear is a scary thing. It festers in the brain-stem of all of us. Feeding on suspicion-laced ignorance, it soon mutates into anger and hate. Social norms are rationalized away as weak.

Editor: At the top of page 5 in the Dec. 18 edition of your newspaper you ran a story with the heading, “Town to look for land for affordable housing.

Editor: In the Dec. 18 edition of Coast Reporter, you reported the new housing society’s name as Sunshine Coast Housing Society (SCHS).

Editor: Please set aside the trees in Port Renfrew that are in danger of being turned into toothpicks. Thousand-year-old trees are worth a hell of a lot more, the way they are, than to log them for a one-time profit.
