Editor: The Town of Gibsons utility bills have now arrived. I am writing about the cost of the sewer use, which on my bill is $124.58. From what I understand, all residential properties pay the same amount, regardless of how much water is used.

The results of Monday’s election highlight how dangerous our electoral system can be at a time when national unity is under threat.

The record high turnout for the advance polls could signify a lot of things – including a strong desire by Canadians to replace the incumbent government – but our guess is that many voters just wanted to get it over with.

As you watch the election returns Monday evening, it may well be worth remembering how the last B.C. provincial election unfolded and the lessons learned from the eventual result.
