I walk with my dog in the woods every day. I carry the requisite "poop bags", but my dog likes to go far off into the bush to discreetly do his business. If he were ever to have a lapse in decorum and poop in the middle of the path, I would deal with it. If for some reason I did not have a bag with me, I would take a stick - the woods are full of them - and bat the offending pile off the path into the underbrush.
It seems that many dogs are not as discreet as mine, and their owners are obviously oblivious as to what their dog is doing, and where he's doing it. Everywhere I go I almost step in dog poop piles in the middle of the path. What's with that? The other day, in just the first 10 minutes of a walk, I almost stepped in four such piles! Needless to say, I didn't just leave them there. But I'm getting tired of playing golf with other peoples' dog poop.
Dogs don't know any better, but their owners should have the common sense, and common courtesy to clean up after them.
Whatever happened to consideration for others? To step in dog poop can really ruin a nice walk in the woods.
