I am a Gibsons resident, but in the interests of convenience, I opted to use the Sechelt recycling bins this week. I was stunned to read a small notice on one of the bins, which offered an email address for anyone wanting to recycle Styrofoam.
Who goes to the recycling bins with a paper and pencil to write down an email address? Why doesn't a larger sign advise residents that Styrofoam recycling is available in Gibsons?
It is in everyone's best interests to keep Styrofoam out of the landfill. Gibsons Recycling Depot does this with a machine that compacts the Styrofoam.
I keep all my meat trays and Styrofoam bits and periodically drop them off. For a token amount, all of my Styrofoam is dealt with in a responsible manner.
