I was encouraged to see that social workers Paula Larrondo and John Richmond are at least trying to find a creative solution to the long-term care fiasco here on the Coast (“Co-op pitched as alternative to Trellis,” May 8). While I agree with Ian McLatchie that these facilities should be publicly owned and operated, I applaud Ms. Larrondo and Mr. Richmond for at least trying to get this file moving.
This is more than I can say for the comfortable Mr. Simons. How long are we going to muck around with Trellis? Somebody do something; the need is great. It is beyond comprehension that the NDP of all governments so stubbornly clings to the proven to be flawed P3 model.
