Concerning the school breakfast program, I think it is misleading for Viveca Ohm, in her letter of May 11, to suggest that children are offered such high cost foods as "muffins and strawberries."
She will be happy to know that at Kinnikinnick Elementary School, for one, kids have porridge for breakfast and a snack table in the entrance hall that offers celery and carrot sticks, apple slices, orange segments, etc., all looking so fresh and tempting that it's hard to pass by.
For those of us who are planning to contribute to the school breakfast program, it is important to know that our money will be spent on basic, nutritious food for the children, just the same food that we at home know is good for us, children and adults alike.
