Bill Forst (Coast Reporter letters, Jan. 22) is unctuous in his fulsome praise of my relationship with my friend, the prime minister. This is an open invitation to Mr. Forst to join us in a little singalong, the next time Steve is over "tickling the ivory." Perhaps Jack Layton could join us on the guitar.

I must thank the somewhat pedantic Mr. Forst for his explanation of the difference between the prorogation and the recessing of parliament. Fortunately, the NDP has never been in a position, at least federally, to have to make these decisions. However, Bob Rae, when he was the NDP premier of Ontario, on three separate occasions prorogued the provincial legislature for four months each time.

It makes me wonder whether this was an NDP trait or that of a Liberal, since Mr. Rae is now batting for the other team.
