Opposed to the Neptune connector

Editor: Why do we need another road with a minimum 12 per cent grade? Do we not already have enough? A 12 per cent grade is excessive and greatly compromises safety, especially in winter conditions.

A 12 per cent grade is excessive and greatly compromises safety, especially in winter conditions. Speeds tend to be higher on steep downgrades that are more often accident-prone.

At the end of Neptune Road is the natural gas plant. There are 33.5 metres from the stop sign to the plant. Stopping time at 40km/h takes 45 metres on a flat surface.

I have attempted on several occasions to get some answers from Terasen Gas, but to no avail. What is the size of pipe that feeds Powell River, Texada and Vancouver Island? What is the pressure (psi) in this line? How deep is it buried?

There will be extensive drilling and blasting done to construct this connector. Also there will be closures of certain streets to build this one road.
