New laws are Draconian

Editor: Regarding the one-beer lunch stop by the RCMP and the resultant driving ban and vehicle confiscation (Police Report, Coast Reporter, Oct. 8). I would really like to know which retail establishment reported the driver.

I would really like to know which retail establishment reported the driver.

I'm assuming he won't use their services anymore, and I'd like to know so I don't use them either. Alcohol on the breath does not mean inebriation. This .05 standard is bizarre and the resulting bans/confiscations are Draconian.

My husband and I jointly own our vehicles. If either of us has our driving prohibited, does it follow that the vehicle is impounded, and the other owner can't drive it? Sounds Brave New World to me.

I'm also amazed that the hospitality/entertainment industries are not responding to the present restriction. I don't believe in drinking and driving. We are conscious of our consumption and act accordingly (abstaining or cabbing it). But to be confined in our living habits to this extent is intolerable.
