In the news locally and world-wide, the message is: be prepared for water and food shortages.

Insofar as water is concerned, perhaps local governments could consider drilling wells in strategic areas on the Sunshine Coast. Also the use of rain barrels could be a consideration.

Dehydrated foods and a number of staples, such as rice, beans, grains, etc., could be stored, preferably rotated for use.

Our First Nations neighbours have established a large organic market garden, using organic Salish Soils fertilizer.

There are several organizations that have useful gardening information, for instance the Botanical Garden.

Fortunately, the Sun-shine Coast has many resourceful people, teeming with good ideas and useful skills in all areas.

Therefore, I am sure that every future challenge will be successfully met.
