Logo contest is a great idea

The current logo which your firm designed is definitely not representative of all that Sechelt embodies, and had you been a resident here at the time of design or "consultative process," you would have known better.

I have heard the current logo described as a rolling mango and as a replica of the Walmart logo (it does bear a striking resemblance). One man even went so far as to describe it as a sphincter. Is this the logo we want to brand Sechelt with?

I can appreciate your reaction to the logo contest, as the original creator of the current logo, but imagine the community's reaction when they were told they were getting a new logo, that it was already designed and that there was very little input they could contribute to the rebranding of their community?

Be reasonable, Mr. Bates. The community voiced their dissatisfaction with your work, the council heard it and is addressing it. I personally spoke with a local graphic designer on the Coast who said quite succinctly, "I would have donated a design if I had known what the council had already organized and implemented."

I think the logo contest is a great idea, and I know I'm not the only one.

Taneth Amos, Sechelt
