Who’s in charge here?

Letters

Editor:

As a resident of Seawatch I received six communications from the mayor’s office between Feb. 8 and Feb. 12. After the last, we received no further communications, other than an Evacuation Order. Questions such as “how do we contact the evacuation coordinator?” went unanswered.

The final communication from the mayor contains the following statement: “I have been advised that I was not correct about a sign in and out process. Once an area is evacuated, all access is strictly prohibited.”

What is troubling about this is not that it is a last-minute change completely restricting access to our property, but that the mayor has “been advised” that her policy must be changed.
