Letters: We can cut our carbon footprint with social choices

Editor:

We need energy, we don’t need oil. We can do everything we do with oil with electricity. We have the technology. We just need to find a way to switch over while looking after each other, which we can do with guaranteed basic income, public services, public spaces and public resources.

We can lower our carbon footprint with social choices such as pivoting to green energy sources and better, comfortable air-conditioned public transportation.

We need housing, we don’t need wood. We need services not more stuff. We need the political will to make these changes, which can only come about when most people are convinced that the pivot to not over exploiting the Earth and its atmosphere is in their best interest. Let’s chose life over stuff.
