Re: "Don't let facts get in the way" from Sylvia Watson (Coast Reporter letters, April 5).
We don't know Jef Keighley, but to us his writing represents the views of a growing number of Canadians who are upset about the top-down style of government we are seeing, even in this little kingdom. The Occupy Wall Street and Idle No More movements - all these catchy names bespeak a desire for a new democracy.
In his 2013 book, The Future: Six Drivers of Global Change, former American vice- president Al Gore makes a cogent critique of the corrosion of self-governance. Gore explores the mix of intolerance and lack of civility that has resulted in the present political and scientific myopia facing the planet.
It is so important that ideas of everyone be included in the debate. Jef Keighley's views must be given thoughtful and serious consideration.
