You can add this letter to the pile I suspect you will receive regarding our annual utility bills from SCRD, which includes a 43 per cent increase in the water portion and a 14 per cent increase in the refuse portion.
I did try to get hold of SCRD directly, but strange thing, their phone lines seem to be on fire with calls, and I couldn’t get through.
To have the gall to increase our bills the way that SCRD has done this year, in normal times would be insane – but in times of COVID-19? Really?
I am assuming that for this kind of increase our water issues are taken care of and complete now? No, you say? No? More studies? You have to spend how much more money?
Well then, I guess it’s time for us locals to move on. Water has gone up so much this year, and probably will continue to go up into the foreseeable future, and I’m sure now that our local dump is closing, that will also be increasing next year as well.
I can’t imagine how our seniors population on fixed incomes are managing. My heart goes out to them; most of them are the people who made this Coast.
Way to go SCRD.
Sarcasm fully intended.
